WORK IN PROGRESS

WoRK IN PRoGRESS

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it untilthe day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:6

The writing on the t-shirt said, “I am God’s work in progress.”
As I attend the Feast every Sunday and listen to the teaching each time, I cannot help but recall the message on the t-shirt. Because as I absorb each teaching and try to apply the wisdom imparted, I know that it is God’s way of molding me and working on me. He never tires of waiting for me to stand again when I fall. And when circumstances seem to crush me, He uses them to make me stronger.
God loves us, that’s why He doesn’t stop molding and fashioning us into His image and likeness. Be assured that even if we’re all God’s work in progress now, He will finish the work He has begun. Chelle Cristanto

REFLECTION:
When you sin or fail, do not be disheartened. Remember, you are a work in progress.

Lord, complete the good work You’ve begun in my life. Amen.

These are the prophetic words of John the Baptist as he exhorts people to prepare for the coming of Jesus.

Every valley shall be filled:
What areas in my life need “filling?” Am I generous enough to share my blessings? Do I lack the drive to forgive those who have done me wrong even if they
have already sought my pardon? Am I able to really manifest my care and concern for those who are neglected, abused and alienated?

Every mountain shall be made low: What areas in my life do I have an excess of? Am I proud to the point of looking down on people and dismissing those whom I think do not measure up to my standards? Has my heart developed so much calluses that they need to be scraped off in order for the heart to “feel” again?
Every crooked path shall be made straight: What areas in my life need a clear direction? Have I straightened up my relationship with my mother? Father? Brother? Sister? Have I patched things up with my neighbor whom I have not spoken to for the past year?
Every rough way will be made smooth: What areas in my life need to be smoothened out? Am I someone whose company people enjoy because my presenceinspires them to be good, or do I drive away people because of my foul manners? Are the words that come from my mouth pleasing to God’s ears? John’s prophecy needs to be realized in our own lives. In order to really make a good welcome for Jesus’ coming, all of us must attend to our own preparation for His real dwelling is our heart. Fr. Sandy V. Enhaynes

Reflection Question:
Which of John the Baptist’s words ring true in my life? What might his words be telling me about my life?

Lord Jesus, help me to heed the words of John the Baptist as I prepare myself for Your coming. May my life be always ready to receive You.

St. Nicholas, Bishop, pray for us.
